Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
In a recent development, former Indian cricket team captain and ex-BCCI president, Sourav Ganguly, has been involved in a land dispute in Batanagar, South 24 Parganas district.
An FIR has been filed at the Maheshtala police station in South 24 Parganas, accusing a local individual of encroaching on Ganguly's land. The incident allegedly involved the individual attempting to forcefully enter the premises and abusing Ganguly's assistant, Tania Bhattacharya.
According to the complaint lodged by Sourav Ganguly, the accused, identified as Supriya Bhowmik, not only trespassed on the property but also verbally abused the security guard when confronted. The complaint further states that Bhowmik had a history of drinking alcohol on the school grounds situated on Ganguly's land. He had previously entered the premises with his friends by cutting a window, and had reportedly threatened security personnel who tried to prevent his actions.
Evidence provided to the police includes a recorded threatening phone call made by Supriya Bhowmik. The complaint also highlights ongoing disputes over the land, where Ganguly intends to build a school. Despite assurances from the police and administration to address the matter and take appropriate action against the accused, this incident has occurred.
This is not the first time that Sourav Ganguly has faced land disputes. Previous conflicts have arisen in Rajarhat, and now a similar incident has taken place in the Maheshtala area. However, Ganguly has yet to release a statement regarding the recent dispute and abuse allegations.
